How to Teach English Vocabulary as a Second language
English is a rich language having more than 0.1 million words. It is neither possible nor desirable to teach all these words, whatever the number of years devoted to its study….

Firstly, we can’t say it enough, watching TV shows in English regularly (with English subtitles or not) will help your child enormously to enrich their vocabulary, learn expressions, improve their pronunciation and better understand the English language in general. So how do you go about expanding your vocabulary and acquiring linguistic fluency? Don’t worry, today we advise you!
The principles that govern the selection of words are the following:
1. Words frequency: word`s frequency means the number of times a particular word is used in normal reading matter. It shows the popularity of a word. A number of frequency lists have been prepared.
2. Word`s usefulness: Word`s usefulness depends on how far it is suited to the mental level of the learner.
3.Words structural value: Words are of two kind’s structural words and contents words. All structural words have to be taught at the school stage.
4.Word`s range of applicability: This means in how many different situations of certain word can be used. The adjective good, for example enjoys a wide range of applicability.
5.Word`s productivity: It means a word`s power for word building by means of prefixes and suffixes.
6.Word`s regional value: Certain words have to be taught because they are needed for use in a particular region.
7.Learn words by family: You will expand your vocabulary and look for words in the same family. You have learned the adjective; learn the noun, verb and adverb.
8.Visualize: Create personal files based on the vocabulary you learn on your own. Drawing simply makes it easier to memorize word! It allows you to create a memory directly associated with a term by appealing to one of your senses. Finally, this allows you to link your English word to an idea and no longer just to it`s your native language translation. Soon you will think in English!
9.Listen and Read in Situation: There are multiple situations where you are confronted with vocabulary in your daily life: jogging, cleaning, transport or reading when you can allow you to listen and read vocabulary in situation.
10.Look for synonyms & Antonyms: in the same way that working on words from the same family can help you, so looking for the synonyms & antonyms of a word will help you expand your vocabulary.
11.Use Dictionaries: A bilingual dictionary is a dictionary in which you are offered a correspondence between you mother language and English language.
12.Practice: of course, vocabulary is learned…when you use it. Let`s even say that vocabulary is best learned from personal experience. So, don`t hesitate to train according to your needs and emergencies.
13.Use all your favorite resources: So, like watching you tube, books, videos, podcasts, so, you repeat whatever your eyes saw and you ears listen. There are a ton of bilingual contents that can help you to improve your English language skills.
