Information for Teachers
Teacher knows that:
An animal is a living creature, such as a dog, lion, or rabbit, rather than a bird, fish, insect, or human.
A living thing that can move and eat and react to the world through its senses, Vision and hearing: Mammals, insects, reptiles, and birds are all animals. In common usage, animal means all living things except humans: a lion is a wild animal and a dog is a domestic animal.
All animal species are divided into 5 categories: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. A mammal is a type of animal that is warm-blooded and has a furry body. Examples of mammals are cows, tigers, and elephants. Reptiles are cold-blooded animals with dry, rough skin.
Animal kingdom can be broadly classified into two major group’s i.e.
- Animal with backbone:Animals with backbone: Animals with backbones are divided into five general classes: fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and birds. Give examples of these groups and explain the characteristics that differentiate them.
- Animals without backbone:Animals without backbone: An invertebrate is a cold-blooded animal that does not have a backbone. Invertebrates can live on land, such as insects, spiders, and worms, or in water. Marine invertebrates include crustaceans (such as crabs and lobsters), mollusks (such as squid and clams), and corals.
Materials / Resources
Writing board, chalk, marker, Charts, Photographs, White board, ruler, Pointer etc.
Introduction
Ask students about Animals
Write the responses of the students on the board.
Ask the students Animals without backbone.
Correct the students where required
Development
Activity 1:
Draw some pictures of worms and ask the student about
Round worms, Flat worms, Earth worms and Parasites.
Activity 2:
Show some photographs of Animals and ask the students About Animals with backbone and without backbone.
Assessment
Give the students following questions and ask them to tell the answer individually.
- How many groups of Animals?
- Define the Round worms.
- Define the Flat worms.
- Define the Earth worms.
- Define the parasites.
- Differentiate between Animal with backbone and without backbone.
