Students’ Learning Outcomes
· Recognize naming words as nouns.
Information for Teachers
· Noun is a part of speech that names person, places or things e.g. man, woman, boy, girl, teacher, principal, coach, doctor or police officers.

· Dog, cat, mouse, fish, snake, and bird are some example of nouns that name animals.
· School, museum, fire station, store and restaurant are some nouns that name places.
· Table, desk, chair, board, pencil and rug are some nouns that name things or objects.
· While teaching the lesson, consult the textbook where applicable.
Material /Resources
Board, chalks/markers, charts, textbook, students’ notebooks, pencils, classroom objects.
Activity 1
· Tell the students that you have an interesting game to play in class and they must actively participate the game is “ What is It” (kasauti)
· Start the game by explaining that you will choose an object from the classroom.
· You will not tell anyone what object you have selected.
· Rest of the class will ask questions, one at a time, to find out about the object.
· Encourage all the students to ask questions.
· The first student who guesses the object, wins, the whole class claps for the winner.
· Write name of object on the board. Continue playing the game for a few more objects.
· After the students have given you their answers about nouns, explain to them that nouns are names of people, places or things.
Activity 2
· Write word bank on the board/chart pare/flip chart.
· Tell the students to make three columns’people, places and things’ individual in their notebook.
· Select the noun from the word bank and put them into the box under the correct type of noun.

( teacher can change the vocabulary according to the level of their class)
Activity 3
· Ask the students to read charts in the classroom and see how many nouns they can find from them.
· Ask the students to write all nouns in their notebook.
Sum Up/ Conclusion
· Give students a quick recap by asking them the definition and examples of nouns.
Assessment
Use the activities given in the textbook for assessment purpose.
Follow Up
· Ask the students to find and write the nouns from their surroundings ( School/ Home).
