Group Oral Interaction

  • We can express agreement on different levels: Well yes.
  • Express agreement in a resounding way:
  •     Yes of course
  •     Of course
  •     Well of course it is.
  •     You’re right.
  •     I totally agree.
  • You are right.
  •     I see it the same.
  •     I agree.
  •     You are right.
  •     It works for me too…
  •     That’s what I think either.
  •     I think the same way.
  •     I share your same opinion.

Group Oral Interaction

  • We can express disagreement on different levels:
  •     Well no
  •     You are not right
  •     I think you are wrong
  •     Absolutely not
  •     I do not think so
  •     I do not share your opinion
  •     I don’t think the same way or form
  • Express strongly disagreement:
  •     Of course not
  •     Of course not
  •     Absolutely
  •     I do not disagree at all
  •     You are very wrong
  •     No way
  •     I do not agree at all
  •     I am totally against

  • Give your students vocabulary about how to agree / disagree, as;
  • I agree with you.
  • I don`t agree with you.
  • I don`t think so.(agree and disagree)
  • Use your facial expressions while talking to others.
  • Explain to them when these expressions are used in routine life they make your language livelier.

Group Oral Interaction

  • While teaching the lesson, the teacher should also consult textbook at all steps where and when applicable.

Introduction

  • Tell the students that we have to agree or sometimes disagree with our friends / parents /class fellows etc. for this we should not be harsh rather we should be very polite whether we agree or disagree.
  • Give them a situation where two students are talking about their friend you can ask them to act the given dialogues or it could be done as pair work.

Activity 1

  • Talha: Ali is a bad boy.
  • Ahmad: No I don`t think so. He is really very nice boy.
  • Talha: Yesterday he slapped Asim on his face.
  • Ahmad: This is really very bad.
  • Talha: He also thinks that he has done something very good. Do you think that it is a good thing to slap a friend?
  • Ahmad: No, I don`t think so.
  • Talha: I think he is a bad boy.
  • Ahmad: Yes, I agree with you.

Development

Teaching Approach: Students centered + Group Work

Activity 2

  • Tell the students to work in pairs, give them the vocabulary and sample sentences to express agree / disagree. Help them where required, and ask them to write 3-6 sentences to express agree / disagree.

Activity 3

  • Ask the students to work in groups may be of four or six students.
  • Ask them to choose their group leader or teacher should decide the leader who will present after writing the introduction.
  • Write 3-5 sentences to introduce yourself and your fellow’s students.
  • Then group leader will present it in front of the class.

Conclusions/ Sum up

  • Today we have learnt to use the expressions agree or disagree.

Assessment

  • Ask any of the three students from your class to narrate 3-4 sentences of agree and disagree with body expressions.
  • Teacher is required to involve the student in solving the problems given in the exercise at end of unit.

Follow up

  • Ask the students to practice whatever they did in class.
