Subject Mathematics
Grade III
Students` Learning Outcomes
- Apply mental mathematical strategies to divide numbers up to the table of 10.
Information for Teachers
- Multiplication tables help us to solve division problems mentally.
- Mental calculation is helpful in daily life; we can divide the numbers speedily to solve daily life problems.
- While teaching the lesson, also consult textbook where and when applicable.
Material / Resources

Introduction
- Ask the following questions to the students:
-
- How many times ‘7’ is ‘42’?
- How many times ‘7’ is ‘63’?
-
- Ask to use multiplication tables to solve these.
- Write the answer on the board.
- Write on the board:
- Ask the students, can you solve this question?
- After taking their feedback, tell them that multiplication table will be helpful in solving this question.
- Ask to read the table of 6 loudly and stops at the time until the number ‘30’ comes.
- The required answer is 5.
Development
Activity 1
- Write on the board:
- Call any student to solve it mentally using multiplication table.
- Ask to write the answer on the board.
Activity 2
- Place the following questions flashcards on the table in front of the class:
- Call any student and ask to pick flashcard of his/her own choice.
- Ask to solve the question mentally and write the answer on the board.
- Check the answer and correct the mistake if any.
- Repeat the activity for all the flashcards.
Sum up / Conclusion
- Revise multiplication tables up to 10.
- We use multiplication tables to solve division question mentally.
Assessment
- Write on the board:
- Ask the students to solve these in their notebooks.
Follow up
- Ask the students to solve the questions given in the textbook.
